BUSY BUSY BUSY!
Hello there,
Checking in for the month to let you all know what's new in the world of "All your equestrian needs! "I am pleased to report after only a few weeks of advertising, my business has really started kicking off! I have visited all types of yards from competition, livery, private and riding schools, informing people of the services I provide and starting to get my name out across west sussex. I have also emailed details and posted information leaflets and cards to other local equestrian businesses.
This has all been greatly received and I have taken on quite a few new clients.
Ranging from competition grooming to sales riding to backing breakers! riding youngsters also teaching and hacking in beautiful Midhurst forest. Last week started with a new client called Annie,
Annie owns 4 wonderful horses who one day aspire to be world beating show jumpers! Annie asked for my help when she started to have a few problems with these young horses.
Zastra - show jumper, mare.
Annie tells me over the last few months Zastra has become more and more difficult to get on.
I always like to start with a light lunge of any horse I don't know, its nice to be able to see the horses temperament and there general way of going, Zastra has a very forward going nature and as soon as I put her on the lunge she wanted to trot straight away. In this case it is very important to keep the horse very calm to get her to walk and listen to my voice. After a little persuasion it did'nt take long to get her on our side. The next step was to see if she would let Annie think about getting on her back!
So going back to basics we started by keeping her quite while Annie jumped up and down by her side patting her saddle and treating her like a breaker. Poor Annie after rather a heavy night out the evening before was feeling rather giddy after quite a few minutes of continued jumping!!
To begin with Zastra found it very difficult to relax, moving alot and wanting to run away but after only 10 or so minutes she suddenly stood very still, praising her it was time to give Annie a leg up.
After 4 months of not being able to get on the the mare Annie was on board safe and sound Zastra stood very still and calm feeling relaxed.
I am happy to say that both Zastra and Annie are able to get on with no fuss anymore just a simple leg up with no problem. Annie is very pleased with her says she feels like a different horse. Annie is looking to taking her to a competition as soon as she is back to full fitness. please read more later in the month to find out about Annie's other horse and much more.
